Boys Win State Tennis Title

The Mountain Brook boys repeated as state champs, winning four-of-six singles titles and sweeping the three doubles finals. The Spartans scored 53 points to finish well ahead of McGill-Toolen (22) and Enterprise (20). Mountain Brook owns an AHSAA boys record 25 state titles.

"It's awesome," said Spartans senior Yates Jackson, who won No. 3 singles and teamed with Peter Hartman to win No. 1 doubles. "It was pretty bittersweet walking off the court for the last time since I'm not playing in college. Just to have this is awesome. We went went four straight years and finished second my freshman and sophomore years."

Bob Jones senior Vincent Rettke, a Gonzaga signee, repeated as No. 1 singles champion by defeating Fairhope's Will Dotson 6-1, 6-1.
