Boys soccer concluded their regular season vs. a tough Hewitt-Trussville team on Wednesday, April 24. The final game was a must win for both teams to reach the playoffs. Mountain Brook won the game 3-1 with goals from Noah Blattman, Sam Rysedorph, and Whatley Thompson. With the win our Spartans will return to post season play. Last year's squad reached the Final Four in Huntsville.
The win secured Mountain Brook's spot as the #2 seed in the area behind Vestavia Hills. Mountain Brook delivered Vestavia Hills' only area loss and split the series 1-1. The Spartans won the first match 1-0 and dropped the final game 2-1 in a competition involving overtimes and finally a PK shootout.
The #8 ranked Spartans (15-6-2) will travel to #1 ranked Hoover (18-4-4) on Tuesday, April 30th for a 1st round matchup. Game time is scheduled for 7:00pm. These two teams played a regular season game on April 2 with Hoover edging out a 1-0 victory in a very tight, competitive contest. The winner will face the winner of Oak Mountain vs Vestavia Hills on May 3rd or 4th (TBD).
