Volleyball Captures Juanita Boddie Tournament Championship

The Spartans Varsity Volleyball team spent the opening weekend of the 2019 season making school history. The team captured the title at the 37th Annual Juanita Boddie Tournament hosted in Hoover. The tournament included 40 teams from all over the southeast. Mountain Brook finished the tournament with a match record of 7-1 and a set record of 13-4.

The Spartans run to the title began with pool play wins over Lincoln, FL (2-0) and Helena (2-0), before dropping their only set of the tournament to Collierville, TN (1-2).

Coming out of pool play, Mountain Brook entered the championship bracket and proceeded to go win their next five matches to claim the title. The Spartans victories included wins over Vestavia (2-0), Bayside (2-1), Hartselle (2-0), Collierville (2-0), and Briarcrest, TN in the championship.

The championship match scores 17-25, 25-16, 15-13.

The JV Volleyball team also competed in the JV division finishing 9th of 28 with a tournament match record of 2-2 and set record of 5-4.

The varsity squad will take the court next on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at Thompson High School in a tri-match with Thompson and Auburn High School.
