Athletics Update: Feb. 10, 2025

Winter Sports Championship Season, Spring Sports Begin

Winter Sports

Indoor Track and Field

  • Girls finished 2nd in the 6A state championships and the boys finished 3rd. Multiple individual and team relay state champions, click here for the recap from Village Living

Basketball

  • Boys and girls have advanced to the Regional Tournament which will begin next Monday, February 17 at Jacksonville State.

  • Boys defeated Homewood 48-38 on Saturday night to clinch their spot for what will be their 14th consecutive regional tournament appearance. 

  • Girls defeated Minor 71-51 in Spartan Arena on Friday night

  • Regional Tournament Schedule: Monday, February 17, 2025

    • Boys at 10:30 a.m. vs Oxford

    • Girls at 12:00 p.m. vs Gadsden City

Wrestling:

  • Teams won Duals State Championship for 3rd straight year! Click here for the story

  • 10 wrestlers qualified for the state championship coming up this weekend in Huntsville! The Spartans won the South Sectional Championship over the weekend in Montgomery.

  • Look out for an interview with Coach Justin Ransom coming later this week.

 

Spring Sports

We're very excited for our spring sports to all be underway this week. Lots of teams looking to defend their 2024 state championship and lots of eager athletes and coaches looking to finally have their opportunity this season. From the tennis courts to the soccer fields to the diamond, we hope you can find your way to a game or match this spring. Oftentimes we have multiple home events taking place at once and you can see Spartans in action all over campus. Schedule for teams and programs can be found on www.mbhsspartans.com
