It came down to the wire on Thursday, as Mountain Brook Varsity Spartans grabbed the victory in the walk-off fashion, 6-5,over Vestavia Hills Rebels Varsity. The game was tied at five in the bottom of the 4th innings when Claire Robinett singled, scoring one run.

Robinett collected three hits in three at bats in the win. Robinett singled in the 1st inning, singled in the 4th inning, and singled in the 3rd inning.

A double play put Vestavia Hills on the board in the top of the 1st inning.

Mountain Brook jumped into the lead in the bottom of the 1st inning when Robinett singled, scoring one run, and Morgan Minich doubled, scoring two runs.

In the top of the 2nd inning, Vestavia Hills went back into the lead after Chloe Leahy walked, Evelyn Splawn singled to center field, and Hannah Walker hit the sac fly, each scoring one run.

Vestavia added one run in the 3rd after Hailey McGill grounded out.

Mountain Brook tied the game up in the bottom of the 3rd thanks to two singles. Mountain Brook tied the game at five on a single by Mary B. Arendall.

Mackenzie Wedell led things off in the circle for Mountain Brook. The righty allowed 3 hits and 4 runs (2 ER) over 2 innings, striking out none and walking two. Elizabeth Yother started the game for Vestavia. The hurler surrendered 2 hits and 3 runs over 2 innings, striking out 4 and walking 3. Robinett appeared in relief for Mountain Brook. 

Minich and Robinett each drove in two runs for Mountain Brook. Reagan Rape stole 2 bases. Mountain brook turned two double plays in the game. 

Splawn, Walker, and Carmen Owen each collected ine hit for Vestavia. Splawn and Walker were a one-two punch in the line-up, as each drove in one run for Vestavia. Vestavia worked the count all day, amassing five walks.
