MOULTON, Ala. - The Mountain Brook cross country program continued its dominant start to the season, sweeping the team titles at the Chickasaw Trails Invitational on Saturday. Both the boys and girls squads claimed first place overall, marking the second straight week the Spartans have topped the podium after last week's win at the Warrior Two-Mile.
The boys team turned in a commanding performance, scoring just 32 points to finish well ahead of runner-up Hewitt-Trussville's 66 in a field of 156 runners and 17 schools. William Morgan led the charge with a runner-up finish in 15:52.49, followed closely by Braden Little in third at 15:59.69. Oliver Mange (8th, 16:22.11) and James Flack (10th, 16:27.98) rounded out a quartet of top-10 finishers for Mountain Brook.
\On the girls side, the Spartans totaled 55 points to edge Hewitt-Trussville (68) in a 154-runner, 16-school field. Junior standout Emilia White took the individual title in 18:03.29, with Anna Erdberg placing fifth in 19:19.19. Georgia Jayne Stuckey (12th, 20:00.06) and Francesca Demarco (14th, 20:01.99) added critical depth to secure the victory.
UP NEXT: With back-to-back team sweeps to open the season, Mountain Brook is building strong momentum. The Spartans will return to action on Sept. 20 at the Black & Gold Classic in Scottsboro.
