Saturday's game against Good Hope Varsity Raiders was a heartbreaker for Mountain Brook Varsity Spartans, as they lost the lead late in a 4-3 defeat at Bill Noble Park. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the fifth when Carlee Trammell doubled, scoring one run.

Mountain Brook Varsity Spartans got on the board in the top of the first inning after Anne Turner Goldman doubled down the left field line, and Good Hope Varsity Raiders committed an error, each scoring one run.

Good Hope Varsity Raiders took the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Molly Benefield doubled to left field, and Trammell singled to right field, each scoring one run.

Morgan Minich singled down the left field line, which helped Mountain Brook Varsity Spartans tie the game at three in the top of the fifth.

Benefield earned the win for Good Hope Varsity Raiders. The righty gave up three hits and two runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking two. Reagan Rape took the loss for Mountain Brook Varsity Spartans. The pitcher went two and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits, striking out two and walking none.

Minich and Goldman were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Mountain Brook Varsity Spartans. Minich, Goldman, and Mary B. Arendall each collected one hit for Mountain Brook Varsity Spartans.

Trammell provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Good Hope Varsity Raiders with three runs batted in. The third baseman went 2-for-3 on the day.
