It came down to the wire on Friday, as Mountain Brook Varsity Spartans grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 3-2, over Bibb County Varsity Choctaws. The game was tied at two in the bottom of the fifth when Reagan Rape hit a solo home run to left field.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Mountain Brook Varsity Spartans pitchers struck out five, while Bibb County Varsity Choctaws sat down four.

Bibb County Varsity Choctaws opened the scoring in the first after Peyton Farley grounded out, scoring one run.

Anne Turner Goldman hit a sacrifice fly, which helped Mountain Brook Varsity Spartans tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.

Bibb County Varsity Choctaws took the lead in the top of the fourth. An error scored one run, to give Bibb County Varsity Choctaws the advantage, 2-1.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Mountain Brook Varsity Spartans went back into the lead after Bibb County Varsity Choctaws committed an error, and Rape homered to left field, each scoring one run.

Mackenzie Wedell earned the win for Mountain Brook Varsity Spartans. The right-handed pitcher surrendered zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out three and walking one. Belle Tillery took the loss for Bibb County Varsity Choctaws. The hurler went four and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits, striking out four and walking none. Charlotte Kearse opened the game for Mountain Brook Varsity Spartans. The starter gave up one hit and two runs (zero earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking three.

Rape set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Mountain Brook Varsity Spartans with three hits in three at bats. Goldman and Rape each drove in one run for Mountain Brook Varsity Spartans. Rape stole two bases.
