Coach Webb came to MBHS in 1996 and is entering his 29th year as the Boys Soccer Coach. In that time his teams have helped him amass 514 career wins which puts him 24th all time nationally according to the NFHS. 494 of those wins have been in green and gold.
In 2022 the Spartans lifted the blue map for the first time in program history as 6A State Champions and were ranked #4 in the state by MaxPreps. They had come close in 2018 (3rd) and 2009 (2nd). The Spartans have been Area Champions in 2007-10, 2018, 2022-24 and Area runners up in 1997-98, 2005-06, 2011, 2013, 2020-21.
Spartans have been honored with the Gatorade Player of the Year award in 2002-03 Charlie Wood, 2004-05 Austin McKee, 2010-11 and 2011-12 Nathan Diehl, and 2021-22 Jack Heaps
Coach Webb was awarded the United Soccer Coaches Association and NFHS State and Region III Coach of the Year in 2022. In 2021 the AHSAA awarded him the Making a Difference Award 6A. In 2020 the United Soccer Coaches Association awarded him the High School Coach of Significance for Alabama. He was the winning coach in the North/South All Star game in 2007, 2013, and 2019.
He previously coached at Huffman HS and John Carroll HS and was the captain of the Birmingham Southern College team 1980-83. In 1996 he was the liaison for the Mexican National team in the Summer Olympics.
