In their first road contest of the season, Mountain Brook overcame a slow start and pulled away late to beat the Warriors 65–52. After struggling early, the Spartans outscored the group from Alabaster by a13-point advantage that sealed the win.
Trey Davis led the way with 17 points and 3 steals. Hill McCluney added 14 points and 5 rebounds, while Parker Wright finished with 11 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds. John Stephenson chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds, and Porter Perry contributed 8 points and 5 rebounds in a balanced team effort.
Coach Tyler Davis praised his team's toughness after the slow start. "We didn't play our best early, but this group found a way to grind it out," he said. "Toughness is doing the little things when the game is sloppy — defensive rebounds, contested shots and smart decisions. Those moments won us the fourth quarter."
On adjustments that sparked the late surge, Coach Davis added, "We cleaned up the turnovers, got after the defensive boards and started attacking the rim. The guys showed poise and played with purpose down the stretch. That resilience will carry us through the tougher parts of the season."
Noting the significance of winning the first road test, he said, "Road games present different challenges. To come away with a win after a slow start shows this team's maturity and belief in one another."
