Spartans win Veterans day clash

Men's hoops beats Hartselle

Playing at home on Friday night and facing the challenge of back-to-back games, Mountain Brook delivered a controlled, hard-fought performance to beat Hartselle 70–47. The win capped a stretch of heavy minutes with a collective effort on both ends of the floor.

Trey Davis paced the Spartans with 15 points, adding 7 assists and 5 rebounds in a performance that kept the offense humming. Parker Wright chipped in 14 points and 5 assists, while Drew Johnson provided a steady boost with 11 points and 2 steals. Balanced scoring and strong ball movement helped Mountain Brook maintain a comfortable lead through the second half.

Coach Tyler Davis praised his team's resilience after a taxing schedule. "Playing back-to-back is never easy, but our guys showed great focus and toughness," he said. "We emphasized taking care of the ball and playing through the fatigue, and they executed our game plan. That kind of effort shows the character of this group."

On the defensive performance, Coach Davis added, "Defense is something we preach every day. Tonight we rotated well, communicated, and made some key stops when we needed them. That's how you protect a lead at home."

The coach also thanked the student section for their energy and support. "I want to give a huge shoutout to our students — you were loud and stayed with us the whole way. That atmosphere makes a difference and really lifts our players," he said. "Seeing that kind of support after a long week means a lot to the team."

Mountain Brook now turns its attention to the upcoming schedule, aiming to carry the momentum forward while managing player minutes after the back-to-back stretch.
