Mountain Brook Varsity Spartans had trouble keeping up with Jasper High School in an 8-2 loss on Friday.

Jasper High School opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two walks. Jasper High School first got on the board when Emma Lou Franks drew a walk, scoring one run.

Mountain Brook Varsity Spartans tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a single by Molly Shea, and a hit by a pitch.

Jasper High School jumped back into the lead in the top of the third inning after Brenna Ellis doubled, and Aniyah Dickerson singled to center field, each scoring one run.

Mackenzie Wedell pitched three innings in relief for Mountain Brook Varsity Spartans. The right-handed pitcher allowed nine hits and six runs (five earned) while, striking out one and walking none. Charlotte Kearse began the game for Mountain Brook Varsity Spartans. The starter surrendered zero hits and two runs over one inning, striking out none and walking five. Natalie Pittman opened the game for Jasper High School. The pitcher surrendered four hits and two runs over four innings, striking out three and walking one.

Shea, Reagan Rape, Claire Robinett, and Kearse each collected one hit for Mountain Brook Varsity Spartans. Shea and Morgan Minich each drove in one run for Mountain Brook Varsity Spartans.

Ashlyn Tucker, Franks, and Ellis each collected two hits for Jasper High School. Ellis and Emersyn Haney were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Jasper High School. Jasper High School worked the count all day, accumulating five walks.

Mountain Brook Varsity Spartans will travel to Pelham Varsity Panthers for their next game on Monday.
