In a hotly contested match,
Henry McGahey provided the difference as he rose above the Wetumpka defenders to head home from close range. That goal was enough as
Griffin Lamkin recorded his fourth shutout on the young season to take the Spartans to 4-0 overall. Despite a big advantage in possession, it was the visitors who had the first big chance in the 18th minute but Griffin made a big save to keep things level. Shortly after that
Carson Hahn and
Davis Echols both had big opportunities that were put just wide of the goal in the 22nd and 23rd minutes
A tactical change in the 2nd half provided the opportunity the Boys in Green needed and Henry's goal gave us the lead in the 44th minute. From there the game settled into a midfield slugfest as the teams went back and forth but could provide no further big opportunities.
